Freya x Eduard Karel
Biblical Stories
The story
December, the best month of the year. Eduard loves this month. Hunting season! Every weekend he can come with his owner to help him with collecting hares. He can run to every hare his owner or his friends shoot. He loves to work with his owner! And then last year... At one of the hunting parties he was not the only dog. There had been a wonderfull female too, but she didn't even look at him. He would give anything to see her again this year.
The third weekend of December he went with his owner to hunt again. When they arrived he smelled another dog, and it was a female. Could it be THE female? He only had to wait and see. He discovered quite quickly. The hunt started ten minutes later and there she was... Wasn't she wonderfull? In half an hour the first hare appeared and a hunter on the other side of the line shot it perfectly. Eduard waited for his command to go and fetch it, but it didn't come. Than he saw her running. One line to the hare and in one line back. Like last year, she didn't even look. When he looked better however, he could see she wasn't just ignoring him, she seemed too shy to look! He knew exactly how and when to go to her.
After the hunt, the dogs were left to run a bit on the farm. First thing Eduard did, was going to the female. "Hey! You did nice out there." She looked at him, shy, and stammered a silent thanks. "I'm Eduard Karel, what's your name?" She looked even more shocked. "Freya." She turned her head away and tried to look uninterested. Eduard knew better. However she looked not interested, he felt she was. "Do you love to hunt? You're so silent..." She froze. He saw she didn't know how to answer. Then she looked at him, and now it was his turn to be shocked. He saw she was sad but he didn't understand why. "What's wrong! I didn't say anything wrong did I?" She shook her head. "I have been a gundog all my life, but my previous owner was a nice man. He loved me and I could sleep inside near the fireplace. I had a good life. One and a half years ago he died, and I was sold to another hunter. He has a kennel in the barn where I have to sit almost the whole day. I can never go inside and he only gets me out of the barn three times a day and when he takes me hunting. That's twice a year. I wish my first owner was still alive." She sighed, then looked away again. Eduard didn't know how to react. "I'm so sorry..." he answered, only to let her know he had listened and felt sorry for her. He didn't know how he would react if his owner died. To comfort her, he went sitting beside her. She crept even closer to him. They sat there for a few minutes, then Eduard's owner came outside. "Eduard! Come!" "I've got to go, I'll be back in a minute." He ran over to his owner, but didn't walk after him. He sat beside him and looked at him with huge eyes. Than he looked to Freya, who was still sitting where he left her. His owner didn't understand at first, but then he walked towards her. He sat down beside her and tried to pet her head, but Freya crept away. "Don't be scared girl, It's allright." Eduard went to sit next to his owner and looked past him to Freya. She in her turn looked past Eduard's owner to him. She didn't understand. Eduard made some noises his owner could understand. His owner looked at him, then he looked at Freya, and then he stood up. He walked back inside. "What is he going to do?" Freya looked shocked. She hadn't been pet for one and a half year. "I think he's going to your owner. I guess he's going to try and buy you." Freya's head shot up and she looked at him. "Would he?!" She didn't know if she should be happy or even more sad than she was already. Eduard just looked extremely happy. Freya couldn't hold back a little smile. She liked this male, he was so kind. Just when she was going to ask him if he had done this for a reason, the door went open again. Eduard's owner came out with not only an orange leash, but with a light blue one too. "Come on you two, we're going home!"
One year later Freya is feeling much better. For her it seemd like a gift from God she was saved from her previous owner. She and Eduard fell in love and a week ago they got their first litter. There are 11 pups, all healthy. Once they are eith weeks old, they're all ready to find a forever home, and not one like Freya had...

The parents
Both parents are owned by me. Dad is Eduard Karel, mom is Freya. Click their names to go to their pages!
The pups
Owned by Cat~ (#1177111)
David is named after perhaps the most known king of the Bible. King David was born as a shepherd boy. He was the youngest of 8 sons. When his father heard one of his sons would be made king, he kept all his sons at home except for David. He was the youngest, so he wouldn't be the one. He could look after the sheep. Well, his father was wrong. David grew into a great king, but he wasn't flawless.
This David however is the oldest of eleven pups. He isn't anything like the David from the Bible. This boy can be a real boy-ish dog. He loves rolling in the mud and make his parents have to wash the whole house again and again. It's about time he goes to a new home. He can't sit still, he has to stay active. Good luck to his new owner! |
Owned by Winkie (#1226953)
Beracha isn't named after a person, but after a prayer. Beracha is a blessing, and can be used before eating dinner, drinking wine and more like that.
Beracha is a sweet girl. A lot like her mother, she loves to work for her owner. Unlike David, Beracha knows when to stop and loves a rest near the fireplace as well as hunting outside. She loves it even more when her owner will come and sit next to her on the ground. Her new owner needs to know Beracha is a real cuddler, but a really hard worker too! |
Hannah is named after a woman in the Bible. Hannah was the mother of Samuël. After being childless whole her life, God gave her the ability to get a son with her husband after she begged for it in the temple. She in her turn gave her son to serve God in the temple she once begged for his birth.
Our Hannah is a shy girl. When you push her too hard, she'll leave you alone to finish the job. When you handle her with care, she can achieve anything for you. She's a great griff for any doglover! |
Naomi is named after a very caring mother. The Naomi in the bible is mother of two sons. Also her two daughters in law are very well cared for. Sadly, her sons die and her daughters in law take over the care for their mother. When they all return to their home country, Naomi tells her daughters in law they have to go and find themselve a new husband. One of them eventually will go, but the other one will never leave her side.
Our Naomi is very caring too. When she feels you're sad, she'll come over and gently lick your face. If that doesn't make you happy, she'll lay down next to you and waits until you're all happy again. Do not think however she is a gentle girl, she can be really harsh to. She isn't the best with other dogs, she wants to have some personal space too from time to time. |

Ruth is, as some of you may know, the daughter in law to Naomi. Ruth married Naomi's son, but after he died Ruth didn't want to leave her mother in law. She traveled with her to her home country. There she remarried and gave birth to a son. With that, the bloodline to Christ was continued.
Our Ruth is of course sisters to our Naomi, but she's not less loyal. She wants to do anything for you, no matter what you ask. She a very curious little gal too, she loves to put her nose into everything. |
Abednego is named after one of three youngsters. They were taught philosophy. When they were taken to Babylon, they refused to pray to the golden statue that had been placed there. After several times of being told they had to reform, they stil wouldn't do it. They were trown into an oven to burn alive, but they were saved by an angel of God.
Our Abednego is also very certain he choses the right path. Most of the times, he is, but when he's not it's difficoult to hold him on the right track. He needs an owner that will be a true "owner" and doesn't let him too loose. He will wander off, knowing he's doing the right thing. However, not everyone enjoys dogs loose in a forest! |
Sarah is often referred to as the arch-mother. She was the wife of Abraham and seemed to be infertile. Abraham got some childeren with her slave, to have some posterity, like God promised. However, at high age, God also promised Abraham that his wife would get a son and that after them great kings will rise.
Our Sarah is a cute girl, but also a real girlish girl. She love to have her coat soft and silky and always tries to be clean. If you want a good hunting dog, you better choose another one, as Sarah absolutely won't step in wet grass. She a real citydog and likes to chase the neighbour cats around the garden. She needs an owner that will give enough room to be active, but also one that won't get her too tired. |
Ethan from the Bible is not very well known, as well as we actually know very little about him. He was a musician on the court of king David. He played the cymbal.
Our Ethan is a lovely boy. Calm and very well mannered, he is the perfect dog for a Griff newby. He's not hard to train and he loves to be with you. However, whatch out for seperation anxiety! He might become too attached to you and he will yell all the neighbours together when you leave the house... |
Kept by me (#1087185)
The Deborah in the Bible was a judge. She judged with Gods help and told the people Gods will. She once told a man he hat to go to war to bring down the hard-hearted king. He promised to go, only if she came too. She did, but prophesized the victory would go to a woman. And it did.
Our Deborah is very loyal and brave. She doesn't like a fight, but when she has to she'll do everything to make sure she wins. Besides her brave side, she has a weak spot for her family. Altough she's one of the youngest pups, she feels like she has to take care of all her brothers and sisters. |

Nimrod was a man who was the first (and till now the only) man who succeeded to bring all the people back together in peace. besides that, he was a great hunter and a strong leader.
Our Nimrod want's peace over everything. He never likes it when any of his siblings have an argument. He is, like the bblical Nimrod, a great hunter. He's a great griff for anyone, as he likes to please every person he meets. |
Zipporah was the wife of Moses. She was a fierce woman, ready to protect everybody from harm. She had her own will. She grew up in the desert with her family. She met Moses at a well after he escaped from Eqypt for killing an Egyptian guard.
Our Zipporah is the youngest of the litter, but one of the smartest. She knows tricks to make sure she can do what she wants without making her parents or siblings noticing. She is very curious and needs a strong owner. This person has to be able to see through her tricks and make sure she becomes a nice griff to work with. |
All pups will have a biblical name. I will keep Deborah. All others will be sold for FPD and FPP.
